40 years of punk and literature: a brief history of La Polla Records

La Polla Records is a Band formed in Agurain-Salvatierra in 1978 by Evaristo, Fernandino, Maleguín, Txarly and Sume. Their first performance is given in their hometown and by 1981 they already have a small repertoire that falls into the hands of Soñua, a very important record company that in 1983 publishes its first EP with four songs and that has what will be a highly chanted song: “Y ahora qué?”

A year later they recorded their full length "Salve", one of the most important albums of Basque, Hispanic and probably international punk, with songs such as "Venganza", "Nuestra Alegre juventud" and "Salve".

La Polla Records and its history

The nineties will continue to be very prolific for La Polla Records and with Oihuka they release, in 1990, “Ellos dicen mierda, nosotros amén” and “Los Jubilados”. In the '90 the same label released four compilation albums: “Volume I”, “Volume II”, “Volume III” and “Volume IV”.

Then came “La Polla Records”, the so-called “Negro” and “Bajo presión” album in 1994. Evaristo published with Txalaparta a book of short stories in 2001 entitled “Por los hijos lo que sea”. The band continued until, in 2002, the drummer Fernandino died with a stroke, so with Tripi on the drumsticks they recorded “El Último (el) de La Polla” in 2003, after which the performances were canceled and disbanded.
